Rear passengers will be able to stretch out a lot more in the Toyota RAV4 than in the Volvo XC90. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between front seat comfort in the Toyota RAV4 and the Volvo XC90.

Convenience
You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the Toyota RAV4 as you will with the Volvo XC90, as they are both able to travel similar distances on a tank of gas.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Clearly, the Toyota RAV4 is a better financial choice over the Volvo XC90, when considering MSRP.

Dimensions
Since the Toyota RAV4 is much slimmer than the Volvo XC90, it'll be much easier to find a wide enough space in a crowded parking lot. If you go with the Toyota RAV4, you'll have a much easier time finding a large enough space to park than you will with the Volvo XC90.

Handling
The Toyota RAV4 has a significantly smaller turning radius than the Volvo XC90, allowing you to much more easily maneuver in and out of tight spots.

Performance
In terms of towing capacity, the Volvo XC90 is clearly the choice over the Toyota RAV4 for pulling heavy loads. When it comes to horsepower, the Toyota RAV4 has a lot less horsepower than the Volvo XC90.

Powertrain
The Toyota RAV4 has much lower torque than the Volvo XC90, which generally means that it won't feel as fast or powerful.

Utility
The Toyota RAV4 has less seating than the Volvo XC90, making the Volvo XC90 the better choice, if you need to chauffeur many passengers. The Toyota RAV4 has a roomier cargo area for putting your bags or other items than the Volvo XC90.
