GMC Overview:

GMC is the pickup and SUV only branch of General Motors. Its vehicles are similar to those found in other GM brands, but often feature more power and features.

Starting things off is the Terrain compact crossover, which features rugged exterior styling that makes it look more like a traditional SUV. The Terrain’s four-cylinder engine adds flex fuel capability for 2012, and a touch-screen stereo is now standard. A backup camera is also standard, while all-wheel drive is optional.

The Acadia is GMC’s full-size crossover and comes with seating for seven or eight across three-rows of seats. For 2012 it adds a hill-hold feature which stops rollback on inclines.

GMC also offers several variations of its full-size Yukon SUV. The standard Yukon offers seating capacity between seven and nine passengers depending on seating configuration. If you desire more fuel economy without sacrificing utility, then the Yukon Hybrid might fit the bill, and it also comes with a much longer list of standard features including tri-zone automatic climate control and leather upholstery.

There are also a couple versions of the Yukon XL, the half-ton Yukon XL 1500 and the three-quarter ton Yukon XL 2500. The Yukon XL is the biggest SUV GMC offers and the 1500 model can tow up to 8,100 pounds (the 2500 goes all the up to 9,600 pounds). On all Yukon variants rear-wheel drive is standard while a four-wheel drive system is optional.

The Canyon is a midsize pickup truck related to the Chevrolet Colorado, but offers better styling and a more refined interior than its counterpart. It’s also very flexible – three different cabs, two bed sizes, and three engine options means the Canyon can meet a variety of needs.

Moving up to full-size pickups, the Sierra 1500 gets a few minor changes in 2012: a new grille for some trims and some upgrades to the luxurious Denali edition. The Sierra 1500 also has no fewer than five engine options, which run the gamut from efficient to super-powerful. For those who put a premium on efficiency, there is the Sierra 1500 Hybrid which bumps fuel economy up to 20/23 mpg city/highway.

For those who need more from their trucks, GMC has a pair of heavy-duty work trucks in the Sierra 2500HD and the Sierra 3500HD which have expanded cargo/towing capacity.

GMC also builds a line of work vans, called the Savana 1500, Savana 2500, and Savana 3500 respectively.
