Comparison Review

Comfort
The BMW 530 offers rear passengers about the same space to stretch out as the BMW 540 with comparable rear head- and legroom in both vehicles. As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between the BMW 530 and the BMW 540 in the front seats.

Convenience
You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the BMW 530 as you will with the BMW 540, as they get the same number of miles per tank of gas.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). When looking only at MSRP, the BMW 530 will have less of an impact on your bank account than the BMW 540.

Dimensions
The BMW 530 is a little wider than the BMW 540, so getting in and out of the car in a crowded parking lot may be a little more of a squeeze. When looking at overall length, the BMW 530 takes up about the same amount of space in your garage as the BMW 540.

Handling
The BMW 530 has a larger turning radius than the BMW 540, making it slightly more difficult to maneuver in and out of tight spots.

Performance
When it comes to horsepower, the BMW 530 is significantly less powerful than the BMW 540. The good news is that, reportedly, cars with lower horsepower engines often have lower insurance premiums.

Powertrain
With its lower torque, the BMW 530 doesn't do as good a job transmitting power to its wheels as the BMW 540.

Utility
In terms of seating you'll be able to fit the same number of people in both the BMW 530 and the BMW 540.
