Comfort
The Ford Edge offers a bit more room for passengers in the back seat than the Ford Escape.
As far as headroom and legroom go, there's not much difference between front seat comfort in the Ford Edge and the Ford Escape.
Convenience
You'll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the Ford Edge as you will with the Ford Escape, as they are both able to travel similar distances on a tank of gas.
Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The Ford Edge will definitely make more of a dent in your wallet than the Ford Escape, which has a much lower MSRP.
Dimensions
Since the Ford Edge is much wider than the Ford Escape, finding a wide enough spot in a parking lot may be a bit more challenging.
For some people, bigger is better. If that's the case for you, then you'll be happier with the Ford Edge, which is slightly longer than the Ford Escape.
Handling
The Ford Edge has a larger turning radius than the Ford Escape, making it slightly more difficult to maneuver in and out of tight spots.
Performance
In terms of towing capacity, the Ford Escape is clearly the choice over the Ford Edge for pulling heavy loads.
When it comes to horsepower, the Ford Edge greatly out-muscles the Ford Escape.
Powertrain
Due to its much higher torque, the Ford Edge does a much better job of transmitting its engine's horsepower to its wheels than the Ford Escape.
Utility
In terms of seating, you'll be able to fit about the same number of people in both the Ford Edge and the Ford Escape.
The Ford Edge has a roomier cargo area for putting your bags or other items than the Ford Escape.
