Toyota announced that it will temporarily stop sales of the Lexus GX 460 SUV. The decision comes immediately after a finding by Consumer Reports, which concluded that the GX 460 was susceptible to rolling over during certain turns.
Consumer Reports tested the Lexus GX 460 on their own track with four different drivers and came to the same conclusion. They found that the rollover problem could carry over to real-world driving and is known as "lift-off oversteer." Lift-off oversteer could occur when handling on-ramp and off-ramp turns as well as other sweeping turns.
Consumer Reports contacted Toyota, who quickly responded by halting the sales of the GX 460 until further testing could be done.
