2012 Ford Transit Connect Overview
If you’re a business owner or someone who requires true utility on the go, the super-versatile and fuel-efficient 2012 Ford Transit Connect is a unique and affordable candidate to fit your needs.
Speaking of fuel-efficiency, the 2012 Transit Connect receives a slight improvement from 21/26 mpg city/highway to 22/27. Also added for 2012 are a couple of safety features; the electronic stability system and Ford’s Roll Stability Control features are now standard equipment.
The Transit Connect does have a smaller engine than traditional American work vans and trucks. Its 136-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder, which is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, opts for efficiency over power. However, the Transit Connect can still haul up to 1,600 pounds of payload and is a nimble, and organized vehicle that can neatly store your equipment and makes loading and unloading a breeze.
Choose between four trims: XL Van, XLT Van, XLT Wagon, and XLT Premium Wagon. You can seat up to five people with a second row bench in the wagon that can be folded down and flipped forward to maximize interior volume. The 2012 Transit Connect is longer than most wagons and hatchbacks at 180.6 inches, but is shorter than large minivans. At 80 inches in height, the Transit Connect is taller than minivans and provides a cavernous environment. Resting on 15-inch wheels, the Transit Connect features rear doors that swing open 180 or 255 degrees for convenient loading and unloading. Take advantage of sliding second-row doors that are available with or without windows.
The Transit Connect van is big enough to accommodate 129.6 cubic-feet of cargo space and items that are six feet long, four feet wide and five feet tall. What also makes the Transit Connect unique and impressive is its Cargo Management System that can be made to fit any number of professions and needs. From storage cabinets and ladder racks, to dividers, drawers and more, you can stay organized wherever you go. The optional Ford Works Solutions system can track inventory and fleet vehicles, while Ford Sync connects to your Bluetooth® and other mobile devices.
In terms of safety, the 2012 Ford Transit Connect is up to the task. A rearview camera, reverse sensing system, front and side airbags, tire pressure monitoring system and the aforementioned stability control systems keep you upright and protected in the event of an accident.
Yes, it looks different, but that’s because it is different. The 2012 Ford Transit Connect is as versatile and efficient as it can get from a multi-purpose work van.

Great idea; Bad execution

The Transit Connect is a perfectly styled vehicle for
light service work or light delivery. It is easy to drive,
has a great interior layout and gets great gas mileage.
Fly in the ointment is: RELIABILITY ! So far, with just
under 23000 miles I can attest that the vehicle is a
mechanical disaster. Right now for the second time
this month the car is in the shop with all engine lights
on; will barely start and run. Mechanics have
absolutely no idea as to the problem.
