2011 Ford Ranger Overview
If you’re looking for full-size pickup capability, but don’t want to pay a full-size price, the compact 2011 Ford Ranger pickup truck might be just what you’re looking for.
The Ranger is a versatile truck, available in Regular and two- and four-door SuperCab configurations, and three different trim levels: XL, XLT, and Sport. Both the Regular and SuperCab configurations come with a six-foot bed.
Under the hood, you’ll find one of two available engines: an efficient 143-horsepower, 2.3-liter in-line four-cylinder that puts out 154 pounds-feet of torque, or a larger 207-horsepower, 4.0-liter V6 that produces 238 pounds-feet of torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual with overdrive or an optional five-speed automatic. The Ranger is available in both 4x2 and 4x4 configurations, depending on how you intend to use it. 4x4 is only available with the V6 engine, and features a “shift-on-the-fly” transfer case which allows you to shift between 2WD and 4WD High/Low instantly. Properly equipped, the 2011 Ranger can tow an un-compact like 5,800 pounds.
Fuel economy for the 2011 Ford Ranger depends heavily on your choice of engine. While the four-cylinder might not deliver as much horsepower and torque, what it does bring is great fuel economy: 22 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Those numbers dip to 16 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway with the V6 equipped. The Ranger competes with other compact pickups, like the Toyota Tacoma, GMC Canyon, and Chevrolet Colorado.
Inside, the Ranger features a basic, functional interior. The XL and XLT trims come with a 60/40 split folding bench seat up front, while the Sport trim gets sport bucket seats with a center console. Two-door versions of the SuperCab come with rear jump seats so you can seat a few more people. Leather seating is also available. Other interior features include an auxiliary audio input jack, leather wrapped steering wheel, and satellite radio.
The 2011 Ranger also works to keep you safe, with standard safety features like antilock brakes, a tire pressure monitoring system, front and side-impact airbags, and electronic stability control with roll stability control which helps keep the Ranger right side up.
When it comes to value the 2011 Ford Ranger is hard to beat. It’s a little pickup, with big heart and major-league towing capability.

I'm a 21 year old man who works in wetland reconstruction. I needed a vehicle that was cheap, realiable, decent on gas and could haul around basic equipment with any hassle. I got all that and more from the ranger.
I bought the sport 4X2, and I couldn't be happier. The drive is very comfortable, but the cab is a cramped if you are over 6'1. The 4.0L engine has plenty of guts, especially with the standard transmission, but isn't rediculous on gas as a full sized truck would be.
Overall I love how basic and indestructible the ranger is. If you don't drive like a tool it'll handle well in bad weather and will deliver decent milage. It'll haul all your junk around without sweating and can tow the basics without having to run it to hard.

This was not a new vehicle. It had 5600 miles on it, but still had the new car smell. I purchased it thru a dealer and got a fair price on my trade in and an excellent price on the Ford Ranger. I have owned it for about a month and really like the way it drives. The 4 cylinder engine is very economical, but not as quick as the 6 cylinder that I have been driving for the last 7 years. The listing on Cars.com matched the vehicle at the dealer exactly. Great way to locate your car.
