2011 Chevrolet HHR Overview
For those who enjoy a retro look, coupled with plenty of passenger or cargo space, they will be happy to know that the 2011 Chevrolet HHR offers all of those and much, much more.
Not to be confused with the Chrysler PT Cruiser, the 2011 Chevrolet HHR boasts a retro-wagon look that is intended to evoke the same style as the 1949 Chevy Suburban. Under the hood the HHR sports a standard 2.2-liter, 155-horsepower, FlexFuel four-cylinder mated to a five-speed manual transmission, while a 2.4-liter, 172-horsepower engine is optional, as well as a four-speed automatic. With these powertrain options, the HHR achieves 22 mpg in the city and 30-32 mpg on the highway. The more expensive Toyota Venza cannot match this fuel economy, nor can the Dodge Caliber and Chrysler PT Cruiser; the Honda Element doesn’t even come close.
The 2011 HHR seats five, while its larger sibling, the HHR Panel just seats two and has a wide open back section. Maximum cargo capacity in the HHR is 57.7 cubic feet, which competes with or beats the best in this class. The LS model comes with cloth seats, a CD player, MP3 playback, audio input jacks, remote power door locks, power windows, cruise control, and electric power steering. A three-month subscription to XM Satellite Radio and air conditioning are also included. The LT model adds a few options, such as Pioneer speakers and leather trim on the steering wheel and shift knob; voice directions are available by subscription.
A steel chassis and body structure provide solid safety surrounding the occupants. Front and second-row head airbags combine with the sturdy steel to deliver Five-Star front and side impact ratings in NHTSA testing. Four-wheel antilock brakes provide great stopping power, while traction and stability control systems keep the HHR from escaping the driver’s control during inclement weather and accident avoidance maneuvers.
Go retro, while incorporating modern amenities, two engine options, an abundance of storage space and plenty of safety features in the 2011 Chevrolet HHR.
